White Palestinian Influencer Zaibaha Fesji calls out black beauty queen Ms. South Africa for participating in Miss Universe 2021 Pageant in Isreal

White Palestinian Influencer Zaibaha Fesji calls out black beauty queen Ms. South Africa for participating in Miss Universe 2021 Pageant in Isreal. A white Palestinian influencer by the name Zaibaha Fesji who runs a clothing brand in South Africa called “Nov” has a viral tweet where she calls out Miss South Africa for participating in Miss Universe 2021 which takes place in Israel.

Israeli – Palestinian conflict which has been ongoing for over 54 years recently gained massive media attention when attacked Palestine for 11 days straight in May of 2021. According to BBC, a cease-fire was eventually reached after almost 300 people were left dead.  Since then, prominent online activists have been critical of Israel and celebs with any association with Israel, often referring to the situation as unjust for innocent Palestinians.

Even prominent singer Demi Lovato was criticized for simply visiting Israel in 2019. But what does this have to do with Miss Universe and Miss South Africa?

From 1948 to the early 1990s, Apartheid which was a system of institutional racial segregation was used by white settlers to oppress South Africans and Namibia. This regime was characterized by an authoritarian political culture that ensured South Africa and especially its black population was dominated politically, socially, and economically.

According to social media activists, because South Africa suffered many years of oppression and racism, this means that the country including its beauty queens (who have historically not been involved in politics) must boycott opportunities for growth and international acclaim in solidarity with any country?

Many might argue that this logic simply makes no sense as South Africa and Namibia are not the only countries participating in Miss Universe 2021. Other countries including Armenia (another country that was occupied), Australia, Canada, France, Ghana, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Peru, Spain, and many others are participating in the pageant to no outrage.

Well following social media outcry organizers have responded distancing themselves from the situation saying “The Miss South Africa organization is not getting involved in a political war of words and has no comments to make”. However, this response has done nothing to quench the thirst of black beauty queen Lalela Mswane’s blood by white influencers like Zaibaha Fesji  who ripped into her on Twitter saying:

“Miss South Africa (&others) not dropping out of the pageant taking place in Israel, an APARTHEID state is a textbook example of the title being solely for status ad power, not morals or humanitarian work. The title means more than having a shred of humanity.

Let it also be noted that despite having South Africa and London flags in her bio, this influencer has barely used her platform to speak out against ongoing femicide and rape in South Africa or any other issue affecting black women worldwide. She also misappropriates the term APARTHEID and calls out only the black queens involved.

This outcry might simply be one of the many cases of jealousy and entitlement nonblack women feel towards black women for their beauty and status. Anyway, what do you think of this story “White Palestinian Influencer Zaibaha Fesji calls out black beauty queen Ms. South Africa for participating in Miss Universe 2021 Pageant in Isreal”? Do you think it’s Miss South Africa’s job to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine by dropping out of Miss Universe 2021? Or is Ms. Zaibaha simply another jealous and entitled white woman?
