Meet the Gorgeous Erika Canela Miss BumBum 2016 . Every year in Brazil, the annual Miss BumBum contest determines who has the best derriere in the country.
This year, Erika Canela was crowned Miss BumBum 2016, and became the first black woman to ever win the pageant. Canela is a medical student, and beat out 26 other contestants for the grand prize title.

Over 17 million people vote in the annual Miss BumBum pageant in the first stage, afterwards the 27 contestants are narrowed down to 15 finalists from an online public vote, and during the second stage, a jury chooses the winner.
According to the Huffington Post, Canela won a “lucrative modeling contract” after being crowned the pageant winner this year. Some outlets, like TMZ , are reporting that Canela is 20-years-old, while others, like the Daily Mail and the Huffington Post, claim she is 24 years old.

“I can’t believe it. I never imagined it would be me. I’d decided to give up modeling and go and study medicine. But now this has changed everything. I’m ecstatic.”
Canela added on that she will not be taking the role lightly, and promises to represent Brazilian beauty as best she can. The new pageant winner adds on, “This is the first of many conquests.”
Drama with the Miss BumBum contest didn’t end there. In 2013, the competition suffered from allegations that two contestants had bribed the judges with money.
According to the International Business Times, rumors spread that Mari Sousa (25) and Eliana Amaral (24) had paid the judges thousands of dollars to win the contest. “Doubt was also cast on the natural credentials of Amaral’s bottom, with allegations an X-ray which showed her bottom to be implant-free, is actually a fake, reported Brazilian newspaper El Dia.”

Last year, over 500 women took part in the Miss Bumbum pageant. The titleholder, Miss Cortez, is from District Federal, while Camila Gomes, from Minas Gerais, came in second. After her win, Mirror reports Cortez as saying, “I’ve been preparing myself for the past four months. I’ve always wanted to win this contest.”
