Before now, Dr Dixon was also the first African American woman in the nation to become a board-certified pediatric surgeon in 2004.
After two years, she became the first surgeon world wide to perform a high-risk surgery on a rare form of abdominal cancer. This surgery thankfully kept the young patient alive.
In 2021, still with Howard University she became the woman chair of the Department of Surgery.
The Howard University President Wayne A. I. Frederick is overjoyed to have the honour of announcing her new position. according to a press release.
He said Howard University not only gains an incredible leader but has moved the University and the field of medicine forward.
