In 1977 when Lusia was twenty-two, she was drafted into the NBA. At the time, she was the only female in the team and she refused to play for the team. She said she had no interest playing with and against men.
Lusia was beautiful and tall. She stood at six feet three inches tall. She went on to college after high school and began to play professionally. She played the first Olympics football for America where she won a silver medal. She led her team, Delta state to win three national championships.
She was the first ever African woman inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Do you think she was being fair when she refused to play in the NBA? Do share your thoughts in the comments section below.
