At sixteen years old, Gudaf Tsegay became a 1500m champion in Stockholm in 4 minutes, eight seconds.
Two years later, she broke her own record by making 1500m in four minutes, eight seconds. Another three years later in 2019, she made 1500m at an even shorter time of three minutes, fifty-three seconds. She won a gold medal at the 5000m race in Oregon in 2022.
On the night of 19th of August 2023, Gudaf Tsegay won the 10,000 m race in Budapest by thirty-one minutes, seventeen seconds. She is still the reigning 5000m world champion, BTW.
Gudaf says runners often get into one another’s path near the finish line. Her opponent who fell just before the finish line thinks she was pushed. After viewing the cameras and seeing no foul play, Gudaf is the undisputed winner of the race.
