DAZZLING EBONY @MET ’24

The ebony beauties who graced the MET gala on Monday 6th May 2024, gave the occasion a different hue.

Coincidentally, the theme of the gala was Sleeping beauties reawakening fashion and the dress code, the garden of time drew out the best of creativity at the gala.

Let us talk about how our ebony beauties stunned everyone and stole the show. From Tyla to Mona Patel to Keke Palmer to Zendaya to Nicki Minaj to Anok Yai whose dress was made with 98,000 crystals.

What is MET gala all about.?

It is actually a yearly fundraising programme founded by Eleanor Lambert, for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute in Manhattan, United States.  It takes place every first Monday in May and was first held seventy-six years ago.

Everyone important to culture is invited to the event. These are entertainers, artists, business people and sports personalities, social media personalities and even politicians.

However, the celebrities often steal the show because they are more famous. We look forward to seeing them there too.

Quite frankly, we all see the MET gala as one of the most prestigious and most glamorous fashion event in the world. Every year, there are new themes and dress codes to keep the event interesting.  

Also, knowing that Vogue Fashion Magazine is the organizer, we understand why the fashion statement at the gala is always off the hook.

It may interest you to know that people look forward to attending this prestigious fundraiser even if each guest pays a whooping $75,000 dollars to enter. But celebrities do not normally pay. They are often sponsored.

Below are the names and pictures of some of the African Queens that sent hearts racing at the latest MET Gala.  

First and foremost, is Tyla Laura Seethal of South Africa. She was voted Best Dressed for the night, in a dress called, “Sands of Time”. She is also the latest Grammy award winner from Africa. Tyla is beautiful and mesmerizing. Her dress made her even more alluring.

Next is Zendaya Coleman’s outfit, also listed as one of the best six outfits of the night. Her dresses were truly eye-catching and well thought out as always. Both outfits were simply, “ Zendayalistic”.

Keke Palmer the new mum, was quite radiant. Her glittering dress added to her inner glow which was shining forth throughout the night. Her joyful laughter could be heard in every word she uttered.

Anok Yai shines. That night was no exception. She makes black shine brightly. Her crystal dress was magnificent. It complemented the glowing Nubian queen and her smiles lit up like stars.

Next is Beyonce Knowles. Trust Beyonce to turn heads with her different flowered dresses. She came in red, then changed to purple and then to off- white. Her dresses were all magical and jaw-dropping as expected from the queen of Mr. Carter’s heart.
