Miss South Africa 2024 is turning out to be quite the show, since South Africans rose up against a Miss South Africa contestant. She is Miss Chidinma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina who is of Nigerian descent, with a South African mother. A famous South African activist, Anele Mda and Gayton McKenzie, the Arts and Culture Minister are prominent South Africans who have spoken against her eligibility to contest in the pageant.

In response, the Miss South Africa 2024 organization invited the Ministry of Home Affairs to look into the matter. Thus now leading to the accusation of identity theft levied against the contestant’s mother. Chidinma is free of the crime because she was an infant at the time of the theft.

At this point, one should be aware that the most industrial African nation has drawn immigrants from all over the world, especially from other African countries. Though their economy maybe said to be dull, other Africans flock to it. Thereby increasing the rate of unemployment and stirring violent reactions against these other Africans.

Finally, Xenophobic attacks in South Africa are often deadly. That is why the Miss South Africa 2024 organization has taken this crucial step, to clear the air. Everyone is hoping for a peaceful event on Saturday 10th August.
