Hi everyone, there is no way we will not mention the oldest female participant at the Summer Olympics Paris 2024. Zeng Zhiying is an inspiration to all women never to give up on being the best of yourself. It takes strength of mind to rise up again after decades of retirement and we all can do it.
To start with, let us ogle at this woman who is fifty-eight years young. That means she has spent almost six decades on earth. Yet she set up a tennis table during the COVID-19 lock down in 2020 and started practising again. Though Zeng resumed intense practice four years ago, it was enough at the time.
So when the Olympics came, Zeng Zhiying was chosen to join the young people, to represent the great people of Chile. That is not all. Before the Olympics, she was a Chinese tennis champion junior at only twelve years old. We are saying champion of all of China. However, a new rule affected the young champion when she was twenty. So, she could no longer hold that position. She went down.
What Next?
Then the gifted player received an invite to coach children in Chile at age twenty-three and so, she moved to make tender dreams a reality. However, Zeng Zhiying never gave up on her own dreams. Therefore, seventeen years later, Zeng dusted up her bat and became active again and took part in national competitions, which she won in 2004 and 2005. She was thirty-eight and thirty-nine years old respectively.
However, she left competitive tennis again, only to show up at the Olympics nineteen years later. Can you beat that? Sadly, she was knocked out at the preliminary stages. But not before letting us women know that we are not too old. By the way, she was the third oldest contestant at the Olympics and second oldest in the table tennis tournament.
We are celebrating a woman who dusted up her bat to encourage her son to play tennis till he was independent of her. She gave the Olympics village and the world a thorough buzz. Please drop a heart for her in the comments section below.
