Yesterday 27th November, there were nine official African winners at MPI 2024. The Miss Planet International organization did a great job of balancing the victories, without any seeming bias. We appreciate the hard work of all the judges and the organizers.
So back to the representatives from Africa and Africans in diaspora. However, the eight winners of African descent or melanin-rich beauties, were not all directly from Africa. Four are from continent Africa and the remaining five are in diaspora. They came from Grenada, Denmark, France, Costa Rica, Kenya, Morocco, Zambia, Senegal and Nigeria.
Starting with Miss Planet Morocco, Souhalia Jäger, the dazzling model was enthusiastic to the end of the event and so we are not surprised she made the Top 10+ through popular vote. And won the Miss Photogenic Award, plus Top 20 Best Swimsuit 2024. Besides being a model and Marketing expert, Souhalia is a talent scout. This twenty-seven year old beauty is passionate about connecting emerging talent with opportunities.
Another one of the African winners at MPI 2024 is Margaret Gray from Costa Rica. Our Barbie not only made Top 20 Best Swimsuit, she also made the Top 10 of the event. She is the first Costa Rican to make it this far in the five years Miss Planet International began. She is also quite familiar with pageants, because she was Miss Supranational Costa Rica 2022/3.
In addition, Margaret loves to learn so deeply, that though she has a degree to teach Jazz and dance, she is back in school. And this time, she is studying Medicine and Surgery. Combining that hectic course with preparing for pageants shows amazing physical and mental strength. Check out our Rican Barbie below.
Next is Miss Planet Senegal, Camilla Diagne, who won the Miss Top Model award of the pageant. Again, we are not surprised because she is quite conversant with winning pageants. She was Miss Dakar 2018/19 and Miss Earth Senegal 2022/3. Implying that she has been in global events. Plus she is a professional fashion model.
