Dancing Ethelyn Butler was only sixteen years old, but she was curvy and tall and graceful and men could not keep their eyes off her. In the burlesque dancing world, she stood out, because she had the moves and the look.

About Ethelyn Butler:-

Born in Washington DC, our beautiful celebrant was making waves in the entertainment world before she was eighteen. And she succeeded in breaking barriers in racist America in the eighties, paving way for other young ladies after her.

First, Ethelyn was six feet four inches tall, beautiful and had curves to die for. However, the burlesque dancing world was exclusive to Caucasians, causing her of course to be shut out. But Ethelyn was irresistible and unput-downable.

So, she took that world and owned it becoming known as “the shake dancer”. Because her moves on stage took your breath away. And then when she met a gifted saxist, King Curtis, they made the power couple of their time.

Expectedly, pairing up with the popular mentor and successful saxist further boosted her career and they were quite a number everywhere they turned up. This song lasted for ten years till tour shows shut it down in 1964. They dated for the first five and married for the remaining five.

By the way, before they tied the knot, dancing Ethelyn Butler became rich. And that is because her aunt left her an inheritance of $75,000 which is the equivalent of almost one million dollars today. Therefore , Ethelyn left burlesque dancing and went to learn ballet.

But after learning ballet, dancing Ethelyn Butler became a fortune teller! You heard right and she was so accurate with her predictions that she had a good amount of customers.

Furthermore, after a few successful fortune telling years, Ethelyn left it all to mind her husband and baby. Again she was not still as she became a great dress maker at home. And after marriage, this bundle of energy made her ballet debut on Broadway at 53 years old!
