CELEBRATING AFENI SHAKUR DAVIS

Afeni Shakur Davis was born Alice Faye Williams. She was a brilliant woman, a political activist and mother of the greatest rapper of all time, Tupac Shakur whose life was taken at the tender age of twenty-five.

Afeni was a political activist who fought for the rights of Africans in America. She spent two years in jail on trumped up charges and was acquitted after two years. She was pregnant with Lesane Parish Crooks whose name later changed to Tupac Amaru Shakur.

She battled cocaine addiction for eight years, after which she was clean for the rest of her life. When she was not being a political activist or running the Tupac foundation, she was taking photographs. It was her past time.

Oreime celebrates Afeni Shakur for her strength to beat addiction. For her strength to go on after her son passed away twenty years prior. For her strength to fight political oppression in the sixties. To inspire a social and political fighting in her famous son.

Rest in power Ma Afeni. So do you agree she deserves more celebration? Type yes or no in the comments section below.
