5 Signs a “9-5” might not work out for you!

On today’s episode, I’ll love to shed some light on choosing your career path. While society has deemed it worthy for almost everyone to have a white collar job, it is safe to say that mentality has changed. People no longer make it a necessity to impose white collar jobs on adults anymore and that is because entrepreneurship is now widely celebrated. I must commend the fact that SMEs are currently holding the nations economy together and creating more job opportunities for people to venture in.

The traditional belief surrounding a “9-5” as only the means to earn reputable and assuring money has surely taken a different turn. At the same time, I can state for a fact that not everyone is meant to have a white collar job. Staying in this setting even when it’s unfavorable for you can of course lead to a less productive result and drain you in many forms. Sadly, most people do not know when to call the shots with their jobs and go on with a new career path. Here’s why we’re going to highlight some signs that definitely shows that you need to move on if you’re in this spot.

5 obvious signs you’ll most definitely see!

1. Low energy and excitement for your job.

Asides earning money from a job, it is very important to enjoy what you do. The joy you derive from making a difference at work is what gets you out of bed every morning to report at your office. Once this excitement gets replaced with survival then it’s time to question if that job still bubbles you from within.

2. You find excuses to not show up and if indeed you do, you just can’t wait to bolt.

Mind you, entrepreneurship is almost as tasking as a “9-5” as well. However while you can most definitely take a break here and there with being an entrepreneur, your HR will question you if the same is done in your job. The unexplainable tiredness or dreadful feeling you get when it’s time to leave for work should have you questioning your choices if they still remain the right one for you.

3. You enjoy working solo.

If you’re among the percentage of people who derive joy in working without being monitored or tasked, then it’s safe to say that a 9-5 might irritate you. It is so much different in a corporate setting because you have to report and answer to people assigned to you. While some people tend to flourish with taking directives to work, others simply can’t. And that’s okay too!

4. You dread wearing a corporate outfit!

This might come off a little bit funny but yes some people do not enjoy dressing officially. The shirts- to suits- to ties simply has a claustrophobic feeling to some and they cannot just accommodate that style. However keep in mind that if this is you then you shouldn’t even consider a “9-5” because your HR has other beliefs relating to that!

5. You do not enjoy being in a single position for hours.

If you thrive in an environment that allows you work at different angles with lots of break, then a “9-5” might suffocate you!

Keep in mind that while most jobs of course allows you to be as comfortable as possible while working, however that comfort is limited to some degree. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to appear restless or tardy at work.

Until next time dear…
