The first Miss Srilanka -USA pageant took place in Staten Island, New York on the 21st of October 2022. The pageant is aimed at generating funds for Srilankan National Cancer Hospital in Srilanka which has shortages of equipment and medicine.

Angelia Gunsasekara, a twenty-two-year-old beauty clinched the crown. She beat thirteen other contestants vying for the title. Over three hundred attendees graced the occasion.

The after-party took place at South Beach in Vanderbilt. Sadly at a point, however, a tussle ensued. Guests and contestants exchanged blows. The cause of the violence was the presence of an ex-boyfriend and the current boyfriend of one of the contestants. They got into an argument and all hell was let loose.

No one was hurt, especially our newly crowned queen.
