MILLIE BAILEY: FIRST AFRICAN FEMALE PILOT IN THE WORLD

Vivian Millicent Bailey is the unforgettable African female war pilot, who became the first ever African woman to fly a plane. She was recruited into the American airforce during the war and fought in World War 2.

She grew up in the period when segregation was still at its peak and had to attend segregated schools for her education. She testified that she did not suffer discrimination because of her sex, but because of the colour of her skin.

Millie Bailey died at age one hundred and four after serving as volunteer in the military, education and health sectors of her country for over forty decades.

Who knows if she has the blood of the amazons of Dahomey? Please share in the comments section below.
