AVA DuVERNAY QUEEN OF FILM DIRECTING & FIRST OF SEVERAL AWARDS.

When Ava DuVernay was born on the lovely summer day of August the twenty-fourth ninety seventy-two, God gifted her generation and future generations an inspiration for all time. She became the first African female director to have her movie perform at the Venice Film Festival on . She also received one of the longest ovations ever at the same event for her film, “Origin”.

Ms DuVernay was first a journalist with CBS where she covered the trial of OJ Simpson, then a publicist with Twentieth Century Fox and her own agency, The DuVernay Agency. She first managed a camera in 2004. Since then, she has gunned for the peak.

In 2012, she became the first African female, to win a directing award at the Sundance Film Festival for her feature film, “Middle of Nowhere”. Since then, she has won several notable awards. The latest being the one won at the Film Festival in September 2023.

In 2017, Time Magazine listed her as one of the hundred most influential people in the world.
