Beauty queen Lina Maria Hurtado was one of the Miss Universe contestants in Columbia on September 22nd 2023. She competed with over twenty other beautiful ladies and made it as second runner-up at the contest, to the disappointment of the audience.

Lina Maria Hurtado is twenty-four years old and multi-talented. She was second runner-up at Miss Tourism Reign in 2017. She works as a teacher and researcher in Pontifical Xiaverian University. She was in the University for her first degree when she was only fifteen! She advanced to obtain a masters degree in Cultural Studies. She is five feet nine inches tall. She sings.

Clean and attractive resume. Yet..

As a child, Lina was so traumatized by racist comments that she used clothes whitening bleach on her skin! Someone said she should compete for Miss Africa instead of Colombia.

She rose out of this trauma to the Amazon we all know today.
