AFRICAN FEMALE LEADERS OF TELECOM (3)

Christi Cornette of Altafibre is the next superstar in this series of exemplary and inspiring African women. She is Chief Culture officer at Altafibre in the USA. This portfolio makes her responsible for human resources, brand strategy, employee development, events, sponsorships and of course community involvement. Phew! That is huge. And this genius is up to the task.

How capable is Christi Cornette?

Ms Cornette has over thirty years experience in marketing sales and technology. Yes, technology. When some women were being pushed into “softer” careers, Christi pushed her way into technology. We don’t want to imagine how many bodies of water she consumed, convincing some of us that technology was the new “black gold”.

However, Christi began her career with tech giant, IBM; in their sales, education and engineering department. Working here made her calling clear to her. Marketing gave Christi “the reach.” What Africans refer to as the grassroot. The real people who make up the working and purchasing figures. Gradually moving into the marketing of technology. By 2001, she had become vice-president marketing at CBTS the technology solutions giant.

Still, these strides led her to higher grounds. After five years as CBTS vice-president and a total of fifteen years with them, she moved on when Altafibre invited her in 2013. It is in this call to duty that she has deployed all her past experiences, to make Altafibre stand out in today’s competitive telecom industry.

Do you know that Ms. Cornette creates time out of no time to be the board of trustees cancerfree kids? A mentor of Young Women for Leadership Development? A mother, grandmother and wife? So many hats, one capable superhero.

We doff our own hats to this amazing queen.
