Only five melanin beauties were at Miss Eco International Pageant 2024 in Egypt out of 65 contestants. They were from South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, Nigeria and even the Netherlands. And they only got as far as the Top 21. BTW, only two of them got that far. Again, what do we need to improve on?

Looking at the predictions, one can say that Nigeria was one of the favourites at the competition. We had taken it for granted also that South Africa would make the Top Ten as well. At the end, we did not get that far.

Just curious, is there any law or policy against coming up top if you are the host country? Because in the past nine editions of Miss Eco International, Egypt the host country has never made Top anything. We stand to be corrected. But come on…

Back to the awards. Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti got to Top 10 of the Miss Talent competition, South Africa got to Miss Catwalk Top 5, Nigeria was Top 5 national costume, plus joined Netherlands to Top 21, while Egypt got nothing. Only four African and African diasporan countries turned up. Host country, Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago.

Note that we are adding Netherlands to the list today because their representative is rich in melanin deposit, Kimary Da Silva. She was first runner-up Best Eco Dress as well.

Question is, what can we do right to win an international crown? The pageant year of 2024 began with Miss World and no African with the crown. Eco International has ended too. Miss Supranational is round the corner.
