In 2022, Kedei Ibiang not only beat over 7,947 contestants for the Mandela Washington scholarships, she makes perfumes. Kedei, a graduate of Medicine & Surgery from University of Calabar in South-South Nigeria, was top of the winners’ list of 56 people.

So who is Dr. Kedei Ibiang?

Dr. Ibiang is a young woman who cares about people’s health. Obviously why she chose to read medicine. However, she took a step in a different direction after her bachelor’s degree. Kedei decided to go into the business of perfumery. According to her, she has not stopped practicing medicine. The good doc is only making the world smell nicer, safety.

It is like this, Kedei is a medical doctor who like every other person, likes to smell good. However, using regular perfumes and body sprays is not okay for her because she is asthmatic. To smell good, she has to go through a long process or abandon the whole idea.

So, this limitation piqued her interest in developing perfumes for others with the same health conditions. The goal was to make perfumes which would not trigger any asthmatic attack. Non-toxic and non-alcoholic perfumes to be exact.

Then, Doctor Ibiang expended her interest into scented candles and room sprays. When she is not busy with medicine or perfumery, or studying; (yes she studies hard how else would she win the scholarship?) She is advocating against gender-based violence. This beautiful queen has her hands full for humanity.
