The philosophers’s muse is an alternative art exhibition looking to show case the contemporary art in Nigeria. Contemporary art in Nigeria is on the rise in recent times with efforts of places like art21 and contemporary art-house among others.

A creative hoping to contribute towards the rise of the contemporary art scene in Nigeria is Morountodun Obaigbo. She, along with a team of young Nigerians and creative spaces in Lekki phase 1, “The gallery” and Stranger Lagos are working toward an art exhibition titled “The Philosopher’s Muse: An Alternative Art Exhibition” which feature a number of very young talented multidisciplinary artists.

The exhibition lasts one week from the 26^th of March 2016 to the 2^nd of April 2016 (excluding Sunday 27^th of March 2016). Some of the artists featured are Painter Chibuike Uzoma,  Sadiq Williams, Brazilian based painter Marcia Mar, Experimental visual artist Yadichinma Ukoha-Kalu, Olusayo Ajetumobi and Azubuike Ononye of the coronary series.

The reception party is opened by renowned painter Ayoola Gbolahan at 4pm on the 26^th of March 2016 at “The Gallery” at Blue Mahogany, 31B Adebayo Doherty, Lekki Phase 1 and it closes at 10pm after which there is an after party at an artsy scene at Stranger Lagos till 2 in the morning which covers the ongoing discussion about the exhibition.  Admission is free.

The exhibition welcomes all art enthusiasts to come out to encourage the turn out and contemporary art scene in Nigeria on the whole, it promises to be an interesting and intellectual evening for discovery of new arts and artists.
