Let’s talk about Ovulation.

When it comes to “That time of the month” you’ll most definitely agree with me that Mother Nature didn’t do justice at all (sigh). While some females tend to have a smooth sail with ovulation and the Menstruation itself, others seem to go through trials and tribulations to finish their cycle.

What do you know about Ovulating?

Ovulation is an integral part of a menstrual cycle. When an egg is released from your ovary for fertilization, it goes through a series of steps and eventually settles in your uterus and attaches itself in preparation for pregnancy. If this egg is unfertilized, it eventually leads to a shedding and this in turn leads to menstruation. The whole process of releasing the egg is called Ovulation. To understand how ovulation works is important in determining key factors that may lead to pregnancy.

Ovulation usually starts around day 14 of a 28-days menstrual cycle. (That means your ovulation cycle is half your menstrual cycle but sometimes this varies as you can have it earlier or late due to other factors).

Signs and symptoms of ovulation.

Every lady most certainly have different symptoms but the one thing we do have in common is bloating, headaches, crankiness, thicker discharge (sometimes may show spotting), pimples, rapid increase of hunger and a lot more. Ovulation usually occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle.

The bottom line.

Ovulation helps in determining ways you can either prepare for or avoid pregnancy amongst many other things. Some females may release multiple eggs during one ovulation and if this happens and the egg is fertilized, it can lead to having fraternal multiples like twins. Keep in mind that any sexual activity on days before the ovulation starts or on the actual day itself can lead to pregnancy because a sperm can live in the reproductive tract under ideal conditions up until 5 days.

If you’re not trying for kids, it is important to use contraceptives during your ovulation cycle or “fertile window” or you might just end up being gifted by Mother Nature with a mini you!

Until next time dear reader…
