JESSICA ANDREA WATKINS: AFRICAN FEMALE WHO STAYED LONGEST IN SPACE

In June 2022, Jessica Andrea Watkins made the record as the first African woman who has stayed longest in space – a record of one hundred and seventy days, thirteen hours and three minutes! Almost half of a year. Amazing!

The bright smiling thirty-five year-old is a NASA astronaut, geologist, aquanaut and international rugby player. Phew! Is she living the life or what?

She was assistant coach for the Women’s Basketball team at The California Institute of Technology where and while she was also a post-doctoral fellow.
