Dolapo Dokpesi-Phillips is the first African mother to win at the international karate championship.

In November 2023, Mrs. Phillips a wife and mother and karate instructor was second runner-up of the World Shokotan Karate Championship. African women are proving that no field is out of reach of our women! Give them the liberty and you will have a chest full of pride.

So who is Dolly? Wait for it! Dolapo is a trained engineer and daughter of the late Nigerian media mongul, Raymond Dokpesi. Her passion for self-defense plus her drive educate women to protect themselves in helpless situations brought her thus far.

Apart from being a karate instructor and world champion, Mrs. Phillips is a fitness expert and consultant. The sport which some African women are scared of getting involved in is a way of life for her.

Her utmost desire is for the education sector in every part of Africa, incorporate martial arts into the curriculum from as early as kindergarten class.
