New kids on the African pageant block we declare. Cameg Brenda Emili Meriki of Cameroon, Christiana Sia Johnson of Sierra Leone and Margaret Ngoyani of Zambia redeemed Africa at the Miss Intercontinental pageant last Friday in Egypt.

So what happened to the regular African pageant big wigs- South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius and Ghana? More than ever Zambia, Zimbabwe, Togo and now Sierra Leone seem to be the new kids on the block. We can only say that they have learned well from their other queen sisters.

The finale of Miss Intercontinental took place on Friday the 15th of December 2023 with sixty-four participants as against the eighty-four ladies initially expected. Yes, twenty countries withdrew for different reasons. Of the twenty withdrawals, three were African entrants. Morocco, Zimbabwe and Bahamas. We hope they will participate next year.
