DR. ANTOINETTE CANDIA-BAILEY PRESSURED TO DEATH

Dr. Bonnie Candia-bailey could not cope with work pressure, so took her precious life a few days after she was fired as vice-president of student affairs at Lincoln University. Over 90% of her listed reasons for quitting this world is work related.

How many of us can relate?

The good doctor told family members that her relationship with the president of the school had worsened. Knowing that her job is like a mediator between the students and the school authority, the poor relationship was undesirable.

So her fear was doubled. She died because of bullying and severe mistreatment at her workplace.

Ironically, she told her friend, “this job won’t kill me, it’s depressing.’ Mr. Bailey her husband also said she was depressed because she was not getting the needed support in her office.

The questions we are asking now are – When did the deterioration begin? What led to the breakdown? Why did she get fired from the position? What exactly was the problem?

The President of the school alumni, Sherman Bonds and others protested against the school’s president, Dr. Moseley, asking for his resignation.

Our prayers are with her family and friends.

An older woman of colour was forced to resign her post as President, recently. For her sanity. Antoinette Bonnie was not so lucky.
