As the severally postponed Miss World 2023 finally becomes a reality, there are 120 contestants. Of course, more than the last competition despite the withdrawal of quite a number of contestants.

Now, twenty-six of these one hundred and twenty contestants are from different African countries. Another eight queens of African descent are from the Caribbean. Yet some represent European countries.

And so, below is the list of countries with women who are brave enough to strut the international stage and represent their beloved fatherland. Their dreams are in their eyes, smiles and postures as they put in everything beyond aesthetics, to bring the coveted crown home.

In no particular order, we have ladies from Morocco, Lesotho, Senegal, Namibia, Madagascar, Kenya, Mauritius, Botswana, Tunisia, South Africa, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Uganda, Angola, Somalia, Cameroon, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo, Tunisia and Guinea Bissau. Zambia and Rwanda withdrew from the contest.

From the Caribbean we have Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana, Belize, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Haiti and Martinique. Bahamas and St. Lucia withdrew too.

We shall begin to share a tiny bit about these African beauties on this page. We hope we can give you all the peeks you need before the new queen is crowned for 2022/23.

A number of countries made a come back and we welcome them back with open arms. We missed them. The more the merrier, don’t you agree?

Finally, the reigning queen, Karolina Bielawska gets to hand over to a new queen on the 9th of March 2024. She is the second longest reigning Miss World, 2022-24 after Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica who reigned from 2019-2021. Karolina’s reign dragged on because of last minute changes of date and location. While Toni-Ann’s long reign was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They both had a fill of being international beauty queens, right? Do you think they enjoyed the extra time? Do share your thoughts in the comments section below.
